The Getty Artists Program, launched in 2010 with artist Mark Bradford, is part of the Education department’s existing artist-based programming and serves as an open forum for artists who have a strong interest in education and audience engagement. One artist is selected each year and given the freedom to select an audience to work with, and to develop the focus and format of their project.
Over the years, the projects have provided various audiences new insights and perspectives on art, while serving as a platform to help them find their voice. Now in its sixth artist, the program is evolving into an active conversation between the chosen artist and the community with the Getty acting as the facilitator.
