Transforming the school, rethinking the museum: The Tàndem project between the Miquel Bleach School and the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya

In 2013 our museum started working together with the Miquel Bleach School, a state elementary school with 98% of its intake coming from disadvantaged immigrant families of 25 nationalities. Our objective has been to improve the quality of the education there, to change the social perception of the school, and to make the museum available in order to provide a place with opportunities for participation, inclusion and social equality.

The project has been developed in the following areas: teacher training, school organization, community action and communication. It is a joint creation based on the school’s desire to use this project as a tool of transformation towards a new school model.
