Taking Art out of the Frame, and into Our Lives

Monday 19 June
@ Musée du Louvre - Auditorium
04:00 PM
Keynote

How do we explore, assess and evaluate what is valuable for individuals and for society to learn?

In this talk, Erlend Høyersten, Directorof the ARoS - Aarhus Art Museum in Denmark and Jake Barton, founder of NYC-based design studio Local Projects, will introduce ARoS Public. This new floor of the museum uses art as a catalyst to inspire social connections and connect art more directly to the lives of museum visitors.

Despite the fact that the museum is located in Aarhus, a city of only 300,000 people, the museum’s annual visitorship is over 800,000 , thanks to its strength of its vision, and the many approachable experiences inside the museum and throughout the city of Aarhus. Høyersten will begin the talk by articulating that strategic vision, offering broader context around ARoS Public.

From there, Jake Barton will share a few of Local Projects’ previous works to contextualize its philosophy on creating meaningful and innovative projects, and how that thinking informed he development and features of ARoS Public.
