‘M+ Sigg Collection: Four Decades of Chinese Contemporary Art’ is the first-ever chronological exhibition about the emergence of Chinese contemporary art. The task was to design a world class, fully digital, multilingual exhibition guide with UI design, well thought-out user experience, and iBeacon enabled.
This app is more than just an on-site exhibition guide, it is both a marketing tool and your personal guide throughout the journey.
Curators and artists were invited to contextualise the artworks with interviews and audio descriptions.
• The App needed to be lightweight to encourage usage.
• Limited time frame – for both app development and installation of iBeacon on site.
• Navigating the challenges posed by multilingual content.
• iBeacon technology – Allowing the user’s device to sense nearby artworks and pushing relevant chapter/zoning information
• A comprehensive CMS
• On site high-speed WiFi
By strategically combining the power of content, design, digital marketing and technology, we have successfully reimagined a seamless, new exhibition experience. App downloads stand at 11,000 over just a one and a half month period. 65% users used the iBeacon function, allowing us to easily identify popularity trends for particular artworks.
