Compton Verney, Warwickshire

Compton Verney opened its doors to the public as an art gallery in the Spring of 2004.  Situated in Warwickshire near the town of Stratford upon Avon, the Compton Verney mansion, built by Robert Adams stands in acres of parkland landscaped by 'Capability' Brown in the 18th Century.  It now houses 6 permanent collections and has an extensive temporary exhibition programme as well.

The collections reflect the interests of their benefactor, Sir Peter Moores and include works from Naples from 1600 to 1800, German paintings and sculpture from 1450 to 1650, bronzes and pottery from China dating from the neolithic period, British portraits and furniture from 1550 to 1750, British folk art and the Marx-Lambert collection of items relating to Enid Marx's textile work.
