4 – Bruegel. Unseen Masterpieces

The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium have launched the Bruegel project in 2016 jointly with the Google Cultural Institute in anticipation of the 450th anniversary of Bruegel’s death, in 2019. The project has brought together major international museums around the figure of Bruegel the Elder (The Royal Collection Trust- London, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen-Rotterdam, The Frick Collection-New York, The Metropolitan Museum-New York, ..).

Drawing on a wide spectrum of virtual and on-site experiences, this unique initiative offers everyone the chance to immerse themselves in Bruegel’s works by zooming into the details of each painting and accessing expert knowledge. Indeed, viewers are able to discover unexpected aspects of Bruegel’s works which constitute the pinnacle of the Flemish master’s paintings.
