Case Study

As communities become more diverse, museums are exploring new ways of being a civic partner and advocate when working with immigrants, refugees, and service providers to: broaden civic engagement; test new strategies of engagement; and train staff and volunteers to work with diverse audiences.

This session will explore how collaborative practice helps build relevant programs that broaden educational opportunities and participation when working with immigrant communities. Strategies for developing collaborations that close the gap between service providers, community organizations, and arts organizations and that position museums as responsive community-centered spaces will be highlighted.
