Transforming Designmuseum Danmark

Monday 17 June
@ Statens Museum for Kunst

How do you create a top attraction and a transformation in a museum with a strong cultural heritage in a listed building, in one of Copenhagen’s old historical areas? Part of the journey, from a museum of decorative art to a modern Designmuseum, communicating the many aspects of design, also entails opening the historical buildings up to new audiences – from locals who can engage with the museum in brand new ways as well as the many tourists, who every year travel to Copenhagen with high expectations when it comes to Danish design and architecture.

In this key note, museum director Anne-Louise Sommer will, in close dialogue with Dan Stubbergaard, architect and founder of the architectural firm COBE, give insights into the process and challenges of bringing the museum experience to a new level.
